Wuni White LED Pendant Lamp by Artemide

Wuni of Artemide, is "IN-EI", in Japanese means "shadow, darkness, hue". The art of lighting must part of its conceptual and technological heritage to the Miyake Design Studio.

This luminaire is on its way in search of innovative textile technologies. The project, born of the marriage between creativity and mathematics, gives life to a suit that can be folded and that takes three-dimensional forms. From a single cut of cloth !.

The collection of lighting products IN-EI ISSEY MIYAKE was developed in collaboration with Artemide, while manufacture was in charge of the latter.

Each of the screens is created based on mathematical principles 2D or 3D, with a harmonious alternation between lights and shadows. The technology of Miyake folding is unique: it creates sculptural forms and, at the same time, provides the indispensable strength. Thanks to the structure of recycled material, to which an additional surface treatment is applied, the shape of the screens is perfectly preserved without the need to incorporate a frame. And, if necessary, you can recreate the original form. In addition, when the screens are not used, they can be folded easily and take up very little space.

Issey Miyake, designer of Wuni

Isey Miyake founded the Miyake Design Studio in 1970. He started presenting his collections in Paris from 1973. His exploration of space, which is created between the body and the garment that surrounds it, was always evolving from a piece of cloth .

Miyake has always bet on the future and the next stage of design, with both the functional and versatile PLEATS PLEASE ISSEY MIYAKE series (1993) and the A-POC series (A Piece of Cloth / 1998). In this last one, it incorporated a process that allows to realize without a solution of continuity rolls of cloth and garments, from a single fragment of thread.

Today Miyake, together with its R & D team (called Reality Lab.), Explores new possibilities for making objects and taking advantage of the distinctive characteristics of regenerative materials. And, as always, it pays close attention to the R & D that the materials require, when dealing with environmental problems and the scarcity of natural resources.
