Collection Maki of Foscarini collaboration Nendo

Take two sheets of paper and roll them together, creating something similar to a shell or a flower. A simple gesture, instinctive and almost childlike. A form that tells a story, a simple object and immediately readable, but at the same time poetic and exciting.

Maki, from Nendo, is born like this, with the spontaneity of a natural inspiration, but it becomes a product of design through a process of development that has represented a challenge.

Two rolled metal sheets - as if they were paper - and placed inside one another, thanks to invisible incisions when the lamp is ready.

About Maki of Foscarini

Maki shape also designs the immateriality of light, which becomes the decoration of the lamp: the glow is filtered through the edges of the rolled metal sheets, creating a dynamic and smooth feeling.

The light is projected downwards, with a direct and punctual beam, but soft anyway.

A double light effect that allows Maki to create by itself a suggestive scenographic effect in the surrounding environment, lending itself at the same time to the realization of linear compositions, to illuminate counters and peninsulas.

The chosen colors, white and light gray, show the purity of the inspiration of Maki, its lightness and its poeticity: a luminous idea in the domestic or collective space.

Nendo is the name of the design studio founded in Tokyo in 2002 by the famous architect Oki Sato.

The main objective of Nendo is to surprise people with small gestures through fabulous creations that belong to other worlds: architecture, decoration, industrial design and graphic art.

Nendo is the result of a lot of work together. He has been selected on several occasions for international awards and recognitions worldwide.
