Has a French name, he was born in Germany but his Spanish accent leads to the Canary Islands, where he grew up. He arrived in Barcelona in the mid-eighties to end interior design studies. Shortly after he went to Milan and there he discovered industrial design collaborating with architect Marco Zanuso jr. in product development for companies such as De Padova, Memphis and Driade; architects Roberto Menghi and Giulio Crespi; industrial designer Sergio Coppola; and architect Antonio Zanuso in the winning project Piazza della Republica. Milan had marked him deeply.
Restless man, seems bearer of the comings and goings of his Belgian parents, who ventured to settle in Spain in the 60s. With an architect father and handyman (lamps home with papiroflexia he had learned while working in Germany was manufactured), thirty years ago Christophe Mathieu transited professional swimming competition to design world. Remains open to unexpected life, it does not exclude that maybe one day he leaves and is dedicated to something quite different.
He settled in Barcelona for years now, it is one of the veterans Marset designers, for whom he created a few successful products.
