Patricia Urquiola was born in Oviedo (Spain). He attended the Polytechnic of Madrid and then the Polytechnic of Milan where he graduated in architecture with Achille Castiglioni.
From 1990 to 2000 she collaborated with De Padova and Lissoni Associati. In 2001 she opened her design studio, which has collaborated with prestigious international brands.
She has been selected and has won several awards including the International Design Yearbook, IMM Cologne, Chicago Athenaeum Good Design Awards, Red Dot Award, Elle Decoration International Awards. She has been nominated designer of the year for Elle Decoration International Design Awards, Wallpaper Magazine, AD Spain, Maison & Object Paris, A & W Germany, Interior Design Hall of Fame. She has received from the Spanish Government and the King of Spain the Gold Medal of Fine Arts and the Cross of the Order of Isabel the Catholic. Her products are present in the permanent collection of several museums among others MoMA NY and Triennale Milano
She designs among others for Alessi, Axor, B & B Italy, Flos, Four Seasons, Kartell, Mandarin Oriental Hotels, Molteni, Moroso, Mutina, Rosenthal, W Hotels.
